Today we had a unique opportunity to photograph very unique
cats - Sphynxes. It was a truly remarkable experience for us
and it shattered quite a few of misconceptions we had about
Sphynx. First of all, they are not really hairless, but
instead they have an extremely short velvet-like fur -
extremely pleasant on touch. The face is extremely expressive,
because the mimic is not hidden by long fur. The character is
wonderful (but obviously a lot of credit for this goes to Anita) -
mischiefeous, inquisitive and hyperactive.
It was a really hot English summer day: 30oC. Everyone was
sweating - except the Sphynxes. Instead, Sphynx kittens were
congregating on top of a laptop keyboard, soaking in extra heat.
This is what they typed in
fffffffffffffffffffffvh2cx8ejjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj8ej83j8j8zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzh oii \dcjh m
After many attempts to convince them that the catwalk is better,
Anita hit on a wonderful idea - a hot water bottle hidden under the
catwalk. This proved an irresistable lure - poor laptop was abandoned
and we had a wonderful set of photographs of a heap of sleeping Sphynx kittens.
While Sphynxes were the center of attention, we should also mention a
wonderful black Bombay girl - who considered that the best way to greet
the strangers is to jump on their shoulder and sit there.
